Simon Clayton

Hello and welcome to my page. I am a 29 year old Solution Architect, based from home for Azzurri Communications Ltd.

I enjoy spending time with my Fiancée, Angela and gaming on the Xbox One platform. I am also a website administrator for the online gaming community at

I left school with an 'impressive' four GCSEs at grades A-C, not ideal to be coming into the IT industry. With my lack of underpinning skills from school, I moved into an apprentice mechanic role at Leeds City College. After a year on the course, I found that being a Mechanic was not for me. I decided to better myself and went back to college. After sitting the GNVQ Int ICT and then progressing to the BTEC ND in Computer Systems and Networking and passing with an overall 'Merit' grade, I landed my first job in IT as a Support Analyst at InTechnology in Harrogate.

From an analyst I progressed to a 2nd line support Engineer at Azzurri, before being promoted up to a Shift Leader in the same team. From there, I moved onto a Solution Consultant.

I have sucessfully designed multi-million pound networks for household names in my current role and feel like I am at the top of my game and I have done it early on in my career.

It just goes to show that to be an IT professional, you do not need to have ten GCSE's at A-C, four A-Levels, a BSc, an MSc and a PhD. Work hard and you will reap the rewards!

Find something that inspires you, gives you conviction and something you love. Don't fear rejection or turn-downs. If you want it, only you can go get it. It's not coming to you on a silver platter. Be adventurous, be you; but most importantly, be awesome.
