Simone Jordan has been hailed by her colleagues, and marketing professionals as a social media, and digital expert with a passion for change. With 10 years online marketing experience, she’s enjoyed a successful career working for nonprofits developing strategies to increase their online reach and digital revenue through online initiatives. Simone has been particularly successful developing and implementing multicultural campaigns, specifically targeting African-American consumers, to positively impact and increase agencies’ visibility in underserved communities.
Currently Simone works as Senior Director, Digital Strategy for the National Urban League, overseeing its social media & digital branding. Since accepting the position in May 2012, she has increased the Urban League's social media followers by 40k (as of Feb. 2015). In 2014, Simone's social media efforts & strategy helped the agency reach over 19 million impressions, an increase from the previous years' reach of 6M. Also to her success, during the League's "Occupy the Vote" voter registration drive, she helped the campaign reach over 10.5M impressions. In addition to Simone’s social media work, she oversees the development of digital assets to support the agency's digital revenue goals, with partners like Toyota, AT&T, Ebony, Essence & Coca-Cola.
Simone’s other major marketing campaigns have included developing the Epilepsy Foundation's "Know the Difference" campaign for Heart & Soul Magazine, raising awareness of how epilepsy impacts African-Americans (circulation 300,000); and revamping their e-communities by migrating it to a new digital platform. Her achievements in bringing patient communities to an online secure platform (11k members in 6 months) garnered attention from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), where she spoke on the Epilepsy Foundation's success. Simone has participated on focus groups for the development of nonprofit tools for Facebook and Ning, and recently spoke at SMWNYC.
Simone holds a Bachelors of Art from the University of Virginia, in English and Politics; and a Masters of Science with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Maryland. Born in Washington D.C., Simone currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.
