Simone Renee' Nicholson

Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, Simone Renee’ Nicholson is a young lady of unique distinction. She has always had a passion for sports and used the lessons obtained from Track and Field to fuel her discipline in academics. She is heralded as a supreme scholar athlete. In 2009, she was invited to participate in the Junior Olympics, garnering her top recognition in the Baltimore community.

She is a sophomore Industrial Engineering student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. On campus, she blends her discipline, intellect, and work ethic with her will to serve her fellow students and campus community. She was crowned Miss Freshmen 2014-2015 where she represented over 1,200 students and created programming and forums that positively impacted the intellectual climate and freshmen experience. She was a servant leader focused on bringing out the inner crown in everyone through her programming. Her most notable program was Queens in Jeans, which was geared toward building the self-confidence of underprivileged girls in the Greensboro community through collecting box loads of fashionable blue jeans. She also chaired other programs such as Kiss Cancer Goodbye and Domestic Violence forums. She, along with her fellow board members, also hosted several informative class meetings to keep students aware of service projects and important issues on campus. Aside from her duties as Miss Freshmen, she launched out on other service projects such as Community Litter Clean-ups, Tree Planting and Beautification Projects, and volunteering at Brightwood Elementary School. She recently joined the Fannie Lou Hammer Institute committee to help educate young, African-American girls on the importance of political engagement. Over all, she lives a life dedicated to the service of others.

Simone is currently a member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), mentor for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Living and Learning Community, and a recent inductee into Alpha Lambda Delta Freshmen Honor Society. She is also the reigning Miss Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated for the Eta Chapter.

Upon receiving her Bachelor's Degree in 2018, Simone plans to make her mark on Corporate America by working for a Fortune 500 company as an Industrial Engineer. She would like to add value by finding ways to increase the process efficiency of the business in order to improve the service it provides to its consumers.
