I have played, written and taught music, particularly as a guitarist, since leaving school in 1986. I come from a family of many music teachers working in school and university music departments, although I gravitated to rock, and live performance and recording. I have worked with young children for years, teaching guitar and organising group events, for example for school performances, and have always received excellent feedback from parents.

I play lead guitar in one of the most highly regarded rock tribute bands in the UK and Europe (over 15 years – this is my 'workout!). I have recorded a 'Rock Symphony' combining rock and baroque elements (using the Requiem Mass as a theme), to critical acclaim including from Brian May and Tony Hatch. Despite a grounding in rock music I am 'classically' knowledgeable and enjoy many styles of music and composers, from medieval to present day, and enjoy English folk, am an expert blues player, and have composed and recorded extensively in soundscape, 'classical' and other styles. I have widespread musical knowledge of theory, composition, harmony, performance etc. My website is

I'm currently doing an English Degree with the OU. I've written a variety of stories; fiction and non-fiction, adult and children-orientated, and poems with an esoteric flavour. Some are up on but I am working on a new website which incorporates everything: my music, from rock to soundscape; personal history; writing; tuition; life.
