Warning to Freelancers About My Experience With Simon Leigh / Pure Reputation
I am a freelancer, and I want to share my personal experience working with Simon Leigh of Pure Reputation as a warning to other freelancers and contractors.
In my case, after work was agreed and completed, payment became an issue. Instead of resolving the matter professionally, the conversation became hostile and personal. I was accused of doing no work, despite my willingness to provide reports and deliverables.
I also received insulting and inappropriate WhatsApp messages, including comments about my financial situation, personal life, ethnicity, and family. These comments were unrelated to the work and made the situation extremely unprofessional.
Main Issues I Experienced
1. Payment Dispute After Work Was Completed
I carried out freelance work as agreed. When payment was requested, the response was to deny the value of the work, demand further proof, and avoid resolving payment clearly.
2. Personal Attacks Instead of Professional Communication
Rather than discussing deliverables, reports, or payment terms in a professional way, Simon Leigh Pure Reputation made personal and offensive remarks. The WhatsApp messages include comments about my private life, family situation, and ethnicity.
3. Moving Goalposts
The expectations kept changing. I was told that if I did not achieve a certain result by the end of the month, I would be “finished,” even though I had already worked on the project and was preparing to provide reports.
4. Pressure Regarding Reviews
There was also pressure around posting a positive Glassdoor review. I refused because I did not feel it was ethical to post a review only for reputation-management purposes.
5. Similar Public Complaints
There are public Glassdoor reviews about Pure Reputation that appear to describe similar concerns, including complaints about non-payment, poor treatment of freelancers, and unprofessional conduct.
Evidence Available
I have WhatsApp screenshots showing:

Before starting any work:
- Take an upfront deposit.

- Define deliverables clearly.
- Keep all communication in writing.
- Do not rely only on verbal promises.
- Avoid posting any review unless it reflects your genuine experience.
- Keep screenshots, invoices, reports, and proof of work.
This statement is based on my personal experience and the evidence I have saved. My intention is to warn other freelancers so they can protect themselves and avoid similar problems.
