Director of Photography Simon Thirlaway joined Sheldon Prosnit Agency in 2000. The company provides photographers; camera operators; directors; production, costume, and sound designers; music supervisors; and other professionals for the commercial advertising, film, and music industries. Experienced with state-of-the-art 35-millimeter and digital cameras, Simon Thirlaway has completed assignments for many of the top names in music and numerous major advertisers, including Time Warner, Regions Financial Corporation, and Coffee-mate. He has also shot commercials for automobile manufacturers, cable-television networks, an airline, state lotteries, and numerous other clients.
Simon Thirlaway's music-video credits include productions for country stars such as Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker, and Miranda Lambert; American Idol veterans David Archuleta and David Cook; and pop superstars Katy Perry, Chris Brown, Pink, Rob Thomas, and Lady Gaga. Mr. Thirlaway has shot "Audience of One" and "The Good Left Undone" for Rise Against, "I Wanna Have Your Babies" with Natasha Bedingfield, and dozens of other music videos. In addition, he has photographed live concerts for performers such as Metallica, Muse, and John Tesh.
Mr. Thirlaway began his career in show business in the early 1990s. Starting out in a London lighting department, he gradually increased his knowledge and took on more responsibilities, eventually becoming a Director of Photography. At that point, Simon Thirlaway emigrated from the United Kingdom to the United States. In his 12 years with Sheldon Prosnit, he has utilized the Sony CineAlta HDW- F900 and F950 models, the Grass Valley Viper FilmStream by Thomson, and introduced the Red One digital camera to cinema advertising in 2008 with a Doritos commercial shown in theaters. The photographer's first love for shooting, however, remains top-of-the-line 35-millimeter models.
