Experienced organist Simon Whalley has led a life steeped in music and the arts. Most recently, Simon Whalley served in New York City as the organist and music director for the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, where he conducted the choir and enjoyed the honor of playing its famous organ.
Earlier, Mr. Whalley spent the vast majority of his career teaching and directing choirs in England. He spent 15 years as the director of music for the Keble College Chapel Choir at Oxford University, leading the choir through international tours and CD releases. During the latter half of his time at Oxford, he also led Jubilate!, one of the city's leading chamber choirs.
Mr. Whalley’s love of the arts extends into his personal life. He routinely seeks out the finest in arts and culture, paying special attention to opera and ballet. The organist similarly appreciates fine poetry and literature and remains fond of the great Victorian writers.
