Resident today in Elstree, Hertforshire with his family, Simon Winters was born in London in 1960. Having spent a large part of his career in the not-for-profit sector, Winters was honoured for his services to this sector in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in 2009 and awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
Sixteen years of Simon Winters' career was spent serving the Jewish National
Fund (JNF), most of these as the CEO. The JNF was established in 1901 with the aim of developing land for Jewish settlement in Palestine and has evolved today into an organisation active in many countries and a global environmental leader. Under Simon Winters' leadership the JNF increased in worth by some £12 million. Winters was also responsible for the logistic management many large scale events for the JNF, often involving the participation of well-known figures such as the President Bill Clinton and General Colin Powell. Financial management of the JNF was also part of Winters' tasks and he was responsible for the development of budgets, forecasts and targets, as well as risk and investment management.
Today Simon Winters runs his own consulting business through which he advises a number of charitable organisations during processes of restructure and rebranding, maintaining constant contact with their management during the process. He was also involved in the setup the charity ELLA, which aims to help senior executives of charity organisations reach their potential. Among other charities that benefit from Simon Winters' expertise and experience are the Jaffa Institute that helps underprivileged children and the International Institute of Secret Jews Studies, which supports and studies resources related to Jews that were forced, for various reason, to convert.
Another company owned and run by Simon Winters is Formula Won, a company that specialises in organizing motor events, either for commercial or fundraising purposes.
