Simranjit Kaur
Photographer, Writer, and content creator in Brisbane QLD, Australia
I am a photographer, writer, and Content Creator currently living in Brisbane, QLD, Australia. My interests range from photography to travel. I am also interested in music, movies, and languages.
Growing up in the North Indian state of Punjab, I remember travelling with my parents to a variety of destinations– the mighty mountains, the beautiful coastlines of the east & the west, the warm desert, the lush forests and green plains. I have always been enamored by the beauty of our Earth, the plethora of forms and cultures present- all unique and distinct with so many different ideas and beliefs. My curiosity has always been piqued by the people who have the skill to document all these different experiences and stories from the variety available in this globalized era. Gradually, I realized that travel journalism was my calling.
I graduated high school in India, in the Humanities stream with the subjects English, Psychology, Geography, Applied Arts and Home Science. In 2018, I was awarded the ‘Creative Industries International Scholarship’ at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). As an International student in Australia, I am pursuing the ‘Bachelor of Creative Industries’ at QUT, double majoring in ‘Media & Communication’ and ‘Screen Content Production’. I am an active participant in QUT societies like College of Excellence (for high achievers) and Leadership Development.
I am multi-lingual with fluency in English, Hindi, Punjabi and a good grasp of basics in Greek and Korean. I have previously worked in a team to make a documentary about Schizophrenia. For a core ‘creative enterprise’ team project, I presented a creative concept called ‘Cemented History’ to the MNC Lendlease, and produced, directed and edited a video for the same. My team Cue Creative won the pitch out of 650 students in the unit. During my exchange semester in Toronto (ON, Canada) I studied Media production which enhanced my content creation and branding skills. I had the opportunity to work on 9 films including 8 narrative videos and a Documentary.I enjoy researching about fandom culture and often volunteer at Conventions like the Madman Anime Festival, Oz Comic-Con and Supanova.
