Sinalo Gxumisa

I'm Sinalo Gxumisa a third-year Education student at the University of Johannesburg, a storyteller at heart, and a firm believer that every classroom should feel like home. Growing up in Auckland Park, I've seen firsthand how education can either lift a child up or leave them behind. That's why I chose to major in Life Orientation and History because I want to be the teacher who helps young people not only understand the past but also imagine a better future for themselves. My teaching philosophy is guided by Ubuntu 'I am because we are' and the Humanist belief that every learner, no matter their circumstances, deserves dignity, respect, and a genuine chance to flourish. I'm also a linguist at my core, obsessed with the power of words to heal, inspire, and transform. When I'm not buried in textbooks or lesson plans, you'll find me running through the streets of Johannesburg or lost in the pages of a good book because I believe that a great teacher is also a lifelong learner. I'm currently building my professional portfolio and counting down the days until I step into my own classroom.
