Siphesihle Hlatshwayo

Student and Volunteer in Johannesburg

Hello, I am a dedicated third year Bachelor of Education student at the University of Johannesburg, majoring in English and Physical education. I strongly believe in the transformative power of education and the larger pool of opportunities that language can present.

My passion about language can not only be seen through my academic studies. I have also recently enrolled for a Mandarin course at UJ CI, HSK Beginner Chinese course to expose myself to different cultures and build larger connections. My dedication to language can also be seen in my role as an English tutor at the Classroom Buddies Organisation and a tutor for Grade 2 learners at the Link Literacy Program, as I am also a firm believer in creating a strong language foundation from an early age as it will pave a way for future success.

As a physical education teacher in training, I also challenge myself to be physically fit and live an active lifestyle, this is clear through my consistent participation in ballet at the UJ Adult Ballet Syllabus class which keeps my healthy and active.

Aside from my academics and personal interests, I am also a committed volunteer at the University of Johannesburg Community Engagement, as I always try to find different ways to give back to communities.
