George Goodwin
Boothbay, Maine
Hello, everyone, I've led an interesting life so far and my path has led to performing service to others. My career has taken 3 major twists. First I am a veteran of 23 years in the Navy. I served most of that on submarines. I was stationed in various areas of the U.S. as well as overseas in Guam.
My second career involved training I received while in the Navy. I developed the skills necessary to counsel addicted people and direct clinical facilities. I spent 15 years in this field working in outpatient, inpatient, long and short term care as well as methadone clinics. I have also participated in prisons facilitating groups of women and men in alternatives to violence training.
My most recent career was building wooden boats in Maine. I attended the apprenticeshop at Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, Maine in the mid eighties. I built and repaired wooden and fiberglass boats of all sizes. My skill in this field kept me employed from 1989 to the present. I maintain a shop in Boothbay, Maine.
I have been writing fiction and non-fiction, poetry, and an active blog since 2010. See sirago5.wordpress.com
My spare time presently is used to facilitate men's groups in prison and in the community.
