Jazz and World Beat Fest

From July 8-10, 2011,Scarborough will have an opportunity to shine annually with its very own Jazz & World Beat Music Festival. Our goal is to make Scarborough a world class cultural tourism destination for jazz aficionados and world beat music lovers.

The Scarborough Jazz & World Beat Festival (SJWB Festival) will bring a 21st Century explosion of Jazz & World Beat fusion music to Albert Campbell Square, Scarborough Civic Centre and the adjacent Scarborough Town Centre environs from July 8-10, 2011. All performances are free to the public. The inaugural event will be headlined by Archie Alleyne and his EOJ ensemble.

Created out of a desire to develop and achieve sustainable economic opportunities, while promoting culture and arts diversity in Scarborough. The SWJB Festival will be a world class, multi-ethnic entertainment experience dedicated to providing a platform for local, regional, national, and international Jazz and World Beat artists to showcase their talents.

The Festival will also serve as a channel of discovery for music industry professionals seeking new talent and business opportunities. In addition, SJWB Festival will actively seek out partnerships with local businesses, retail establishments, vendors, youth, and community organizations, to secure and generate mutually beneficial economic opportunities for the Scarborough community.
