Sarah J Graves

Gainesville, Florida, United States

My background in environmental sciences in Minnesota, field studies in Costa Rica, followed by GIS experience in Wisconsin has led me to the University of Florida where I am a graduate student advised by Dr. Stephanie Bohlman in the School of Forest Resources and Conservation. My broad research interests are to use remotely sensed data to understand the dynamics of tropical agricultural landscapes. I am currently developing methods for individual tree species identification and biomass estimation from hyperspectral and lidar aerial data for an agricultural landscape in the Azuero Peninsula in Panama.

I am also an advocate and supporter of women and girls involved in science and engineering fields. I help lead a WiSE student group at UF and have been involved in a review of the gender compostion of editorial boards in the ecological sciences.
