My field of interest is robotic surgery and the treatment of urological cancers.

I graduated from medical school in 2001 (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium), whereafter I became a surgical resident (dr P.L.O. Broos, UZ Leuven). Soon the urological surgery draw my attention and I enrolled a urological residency program (dr. H. Van Poppel, UZ Leuven).

After I graduated as urologist in 2007 I became a urological fellow (UZ Leuven) with specific interest in minimal invasive surgery (laparoscopy and robotic surgery) and treatment of urological cancers.

In 2009 I was invited to set up and develop the robotic surgery program in Maasstadziekenhuis, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Currently we preform up to 15 robotic assisted procedures weekly, varying from robot assisted radical prostatectomy, robot assisted radical cystectomy with intracorporeal diversion and robot assisted kidney surgery and have 2 da Vinci Si systems operating.

I am involved in data collection and analysis of patients with prostate, kidney and bladder cancer, who underwent robotic assisted surgery.

Specialties: Robot Assisted Radical Prostatectomy (RALP) > 1.500 procedures
