SJP Claremont

Mission Statement: Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) aims to promote justice, human rights, liberation and self-determination for the Palestinian people. We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people against apartheid and illegal occupation. We support the Palestinian calls for an academic, cultural, and economic boycott of Israel. We also support the Palestinian calls to divest from Israeli institutions and companies that benefit from Israeli occupation. We believe that there are certain key principles grounded in international law, human rights, and basic standards of justice that will be fundamental to a just resolution to the plight of the Palestinians. These include the full decolonization of all illegally held Palestinian lands; the end of the Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem; the implementation of the right to return and repatriation for all Palestinian refugees to their original homes and properties; and an end to the Israeli system of apartheid and discrimination against the indigenous Palestinian population. Our strength is in our diversity. Membership to SJP is open to all students, faculty, and staff of the Claremont Colleges. We do not restrict membership on the basis of race, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, religion, or disability, among other characteristics. We welcome individuals of all ethic and religious backgrounds to join in solidarity with struggle for justice in Palestine.
