Anne Skrynnikov

Teacher in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

What’s up, I’m Anne. I’m a teacher living in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I am a fan of travel, reading, and education. I’m also interested in cooking and wine. I have been teaching for nine years, I started my career off teaching Grade 6 in Calgary at a low-socioeconomic income region with a high immigrant population. I was able to relate to my students a lot as I was a newcomer to Canada in 2000 when I moved from Germany.

Early on in my career as a student I always knew I wanted to be a Teacher. After years of growth in my practice while teaching in Grade 6, I was ready for a new challenge, and I moved to become a Jr High Teacher and I taught Social Studies and started to perfect my teaching practice around Mathematics. I was enjoying getting to specializing in this subject area when my marriage brought me to Vancouver.

I have started a new role as a Resource Teacher and am now in my second year as a Resource Teacher. I am using a lot of my experience of working with students who have learning challenges and mental health challenges in this exciting new role. I have a continuing position in my district now, and am almost done completing the Special Education Certificate.
Throughout the last nine years I have been able to see the impact an individualized, yet inclusive program can have on a child, their sense of belonging and growth, and I am excited to learn more about how I can continue to support students this way. I look forward to learning more about how to support students who struggle with behaviour challenges.

I look forward to working and learning together.
