Sarah Kate Sullivan

Sarah Kate Sullivan is a Birmingham, Alabama native and current doctoral student at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she is pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Science with a focus on International Political Economy and Latin America. Her dissertation topic is the "political determinants of Chinese investment in Latin America."
She completed a Master's degree in International Political Economy at the Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires in 2009 while serving as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar from the Tuscaloosa, Alabama Rotary Club. The Rotary scholarship first led her to Argentina, but she chose to return on her own accord to pursue her Ph.D. after working for the Chancellor of The University of Alabama System. During that time, she managed economic development projects and strategic international initiatives, including projects in Argentina, Cuba and India, and also taught Introduction to Global Studies for undergraduate students.
Before spending a year in Buenos Aires in 2009, she worked as a press secretary on Capitol Hill for former Alabama Congressman Artur Davis. Sarah Kate has also worked or interned with gubernatorial campaigns, lobbying organizations, and elected officials in Alabama state government. As an undergraduate at The University of Alabama, she provided leadership for a broad array of political groups and wrote 3-5 economic and political stories per week as a senior political reporter for the widely circulated student newspaper the Crimson White.
