Skye Fitzgerald is an independent documentary filmmaker who has tackled complex stories of social justice and human rights for nearly twenty years. His works have been characterized as “superb example[s] of visual storytelling” (Documentary Drive), “emotional and artful” (Variety), and downright “devastating” (The Oregonian). Fitzgerald’s most recent documentary, 50 Feet from Syria, was shortlisted for the Oscars.

Over the years Fitzgerald has collaborated with or received financial support from the Sundance Institute, the U.S. Institute of Peace, the State Department and the Paul Robeson Fund for his projects. As a Director of Photography Fitzgerald has lensed work for Dateline NBC, VICE News, CNN, Discovery Channel, and ABC among many others.

Skye Fitzgerald has been repeatedly recognized for his documentary work. He has received the Award of Excellence from the Oregon Media Production Association (OMPA), the Special Jury Prize - Human Rights from the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and more.
