Musician in Berlin, Germany

Violinist Skye Kinlaw recently received her Master of Music degree from the ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle, Netherlands, where she studied with Sarah Kapustin. Before her time in Zwolle, she earned a Performer Diploma in Solo Performance and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University Bloomington, studying with Mark Kaplan and Mimi Zweig. Skye began her violin studies when she was 3 years old, in her hometown of Orlando, Florida, US.

Skye’s classical background has given her the opportunity to perform solo at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in New York and as a member of the Peabody Preparatory's Pre-Conservatory Violin Program at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Her love for ensemble playing grew stronger in her university studies, where she was fortunate to participate in several opera, ballet, film orchestra and symphonic projects, as well as receive intensive chamber music coaching with members of the Pacifica, Biava and Rubens Quartets. Additionally, she picked up the viola in high school and university, and enjoys expressing herself on both instruments. In summer 2016, Skye participated in the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, a part of the New York Philharmonic's Biennial at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, NY.

Recently Skye has also been trying her hand at interdisciplinary artistic curation. Alongside her Master of Music studies, she completed 2 certificates in Curatorial Practices in Music at ArtEZ, during which her research project explored the possible intersections between wildlife conservation and classical music.

Skye's musical interests extend outside the classical realm as well, including Norwegian hardingfele, Scottish traditional music, and Cuban danzón. As of October 2018, she has been a violinist in the Berlin-based melodic metal band for Moran Magal.

As of May 2016, Skye is a certified ELDOA I instructor; more information about this osteopathic therapy can be found here: http://www.eldoamethod.com/about/. To book a session with Skye, please contact her at the button above.

Skye also works part-time as an editor, writer and freelance translator. Outside of music, she enjoys hiking, writing, and salsa dancing.
