The great Mojave Desert
As a retired teacher I am pursuing my dream of writing. I have just completed my first novel, "Raven's Daughter." It is a tale of early Canada. The story was inspired by a former student whose family were first nation people from British Colombia. Her stories about her family helped me create the story of Nuska.
My husband and I love to travel. I am inspired by the places we see.
I also love family history and my novels contain the stories of our family's ancestors. The white fur trapper in "Raven's Daughter," is actually my great, great grandfather Grandpa James Polk Addis. He actually was kidnapped as a baby and miraculously found his family during the civil war.
I have also included the story of my husband's grandfather. He was kidnapped at the age of 10 by a sea captain from his native Finland. He sailed the world as the captains cabin boy until escaping at the age of sixteen. These stories give my novels a sense of reality.
I hope you will check in with me often to see how I am progressing toward publication. Mark, my husband and I will be writing several travel articles in the next few months so keep checking back and take a peak at our adventures.

Spending a ew days in Sedona, AZ. Visited Montezumas Well yesterday. It is truly a spiritual place. 700AD found the well inhabited by a strange group of native people. They built a 30 room pueblo and many other structures within the walls of the huge well.
water enters the well and exits through an underground cave into a canal dug out by the people. the canal then flows into a lush green forest river.
If you go there be sure to go early. it is a lot of walking and stair climbing and the summer heat can overwhelm you, but it is worth the effort. I will include some pictures of our trip soon.
This adds realism to the stories I write.
While Raven's Daughter is about Canada my next novel will be about Ireland and contain more family stories. I will let everyone know when Raven's Daughter is published so stay tuned.
