Sophia (Sophie) Lafleur is studying Media Production at Ryerson University’s RTA School of Media. She is pursuing a concentration in TV and Video Production, as well as a minor in French. During her past three years at Ryerson, Sophie has been very involved with university life. She is the President of Ryerson’s Residence Council, an organization that represents over 1,300 students living in on-campus housing. In this role, she oversees and plans all residence wide events and works weekly with a team of 40 students. Sophie has also worked at Ryerson University as an Orientation Lead planning events for incoming students. She has planned over 50 events reaching more than 3,000 students. Her interest in event planning has led her to pursue a career in production management with the ultimate goal of producing.

Outside of university life, Sophie completed her first internship at CBC’s Rick Mercer Report Season 15, as an audience coordinator. This allowed her to get a first look behind the scenes of a multi-camera variety show. Her most recent internship was at Insight Productions’ Big Brother Canada Season 6, as the control room intern. She worked closely with story producers and the post-production team to help piece the show together.

Upon receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree, Sophie intends to continue working in television, specifically in reality and non-scripted series.
