The slave of ar-Raheem

The Prophet (SAW) said, 'Islam came as something strange and it will return as something strange. So give glad tidings to the strangers'

I live, breathe and hopefully die as a Muslim. Islam is a way of life. Islam has a say in everything from politics, economy, business dealings, marriage, capital punishment, war and activities of daily living such as eating, sleeping and cleaning yourself. Linguistically, Islam does not mean peace contrary to popular belief. Rather it means submission to the will and decree of Allah, the Creator of the heavens and earth and everything in existence.

The goals of Islamic Shari'ah ultimately seek to establish justice and law of Allah on earth. The society is given precedence over individual desires. Every person's roles, rights and responsibilities towards Allah, their parents, their spouses, their neighbours and society are clearly outlined in the noble Qu'ran, the verbatim words of Allah as delivered to the prophet Muhammad through the angel, Gabriel, and the sayings and actions of our prophet as understood by our salaaf (predecessors).

Islam is not a religion of peace although through it, the hearts find rest. Rather, Islam is a religion of justice. Sometimes justice can be achieved through peace but other times it can only be achieved through war. The prophet (SAW) said, 'I am the prophet of mercy and the prophet of war'. 'I am the smiling prophet and the prophet who kills (not murder)'.
