Brandon Slone

Athlete, coach, and educator, Brandon Slone spent eight years coaching basketball at Gross Pointe South High School. As an undergraduate at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, Brandon Slone was named an Academic All-American for the 1996 to 1997 season, the same season he earned the title of MVP. He served as Captain of the basketball team four years in a row and earned four varsity letters. While at Grosse Point South High, Brandon Slone coached girls freshman, junior varsity, and varsity basketball. He also coached boys junior varsity basketball. In 2006, the school’s leaders appointed him Assistant Principal for Athletics, a post he held for four years. In that role, Brandon Slone supervised a program consisting of 33 varsity sports. This required him to manage the budgets, handle student-athlete discipline, evaluate faculty, and serve as a point person for the coaching staff. Other duties included coordinating the game officials for events, representing the school in the Macomb Area Conference, and coordinating various issues with the Michigan High School Athletic Association. For the 2010 to 2011 school year, Brandon Slone moved to the administrative side of the school, serving as an Assistant Principal for Administrative Services. Having joined Grosse Pointe South High in 1998, he now coordinated the school’s scheduling procedures, including student courses and teacher assignments. Other duties included serving on the technology committee, evaluating tenured and nontenured faculty, and overseeing site maintenance and building upkeep. In terms of academic and professional credentials, Brandon Slone holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University in Detroit. He received a Specialist Degree in the same field from Oakland University in Auburn Hills, Michigan in 2010. Brandon Slone holds a certificate in elementary and secondary administration for grades K to 12. He is also certified as a Professional Educator in History and Language Arts.
