The Mahjong Ways slot game is clearly inspired by the original Chinese game from which it takes its name. The symbols are all traditional Mahjong symbols, and the soundtrack is fairly standard Asian-inspired music. Overall, it’s a simple but effective design that keeps you engaged in the action.

The game of Mahjong can be quite difficult to play. Thankfully, Mahjong Ways is very much the opposite. I found the slot to have a nice, intuitive design, with all of the buttons I needed to play located under the game grid.

The Mahjong Ways slot does not use traditional paylines, with 1,024 ways to win active on each spin. Wins are formed when players land matching combinations of three or more across consecutive reels, irrespective of their position.

It uses a Cascade mechanic, with winning symbols being removed from the game and new ones falling from above. This continues until no new symbols land.

The first bonus I noticed in the Mahjong Ways slot was the Golden Symbols. These can land on any of the middle three reels. Following a Cascade, any Golden Symbols on the grid that were involved in a win will turn Wild.

You will also spot the Multiplier trail above the reels. This displays Multipliers of 1x, 2x, 3x, and 5x. On every win and subsequent Cascade, this will increase, and the Multiplier will be automatically applied to any wins. It will reset at the end of a winning sequence.
