Tyler Smith
Spartanburg, South Carolina
To briefly characterize myself, I am a recent graduate of the Wofford College class of 2014, with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Economics and Spanish. I am a viral learner, and my passions include, the outdoors, extreme sports, and astronomy.
An independent liberal arts college established in 1854 in the quaint town of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Wofford was ranked 65th among national liberal arts colleges by U.S. News and World Report, listed by Forbes as being in the top 50 of America’s Best Colleges in terms of ROI, and called “one of the best 378 colleges” by the Princeton Review. While being proud of these numbers, I am most proud of what they mean—the quality of my college indicates its success in teaching me the tools to flourish in my academic career. Through my time as a Wofford student, I have developed superb written and verbal communication skills, as well as the capability to manage a diverse work load with intelligence and responsibility.
My work in both of my majors has allowed me to interact with a range of people—from volunteering with children at the Archadia Elementary School and studying abroad in Santiago Chile through SIT, to working alongside of nationally acclaimed and published researchers and theorists in my studies of Economics, Mathematics, Philosophy, and the other subjects. Through this, I have not only gained valuable life skills, I have learned to incorporate a mindset of professionalism, responsibility, and character driven dedication into every aspect of my daily life.
