I care deeply about scientific literacy. Whereas an illiterate public comprises a weak, divided and ineffectual civic body, a literate public comprises a strong community of potential collaborators. Therefore, I focus my PhD research in Human-Computer Interaction and Machine Learning with the eventual aim of building new tech to improve scientific literacy and collaboration on a massive scale. I am also interested in exploring how technology can facilitate social connectedness, especially in the context of difficult health journeys.

With over 8 years of experience as a professional writer, I occasionally accept freelance work as a science writing teacher. I also do freelance content creation for science, including photography, writing, and editing for web and print. Contact me if you have a project in mind.
