Smokey AMRAA
East Gippsland Victoria
Hi, I'm Smokey,
Look at me now, lifes good, but,,,,, Not so long ago, I was chained up to a house and my future was not looking good at all. Never did get off that chain, probably did'nt help when I killed the chickens that belonged to the human.
I was left chained up to fend for myself, ( not a problem if I am free) and food was delivered by someone that did not live there or that I knew and no one to spend some time with me. It seemed like no one liked me or wanted me. I am terrified of thunder storms and I was riddle with fleas. The humans saved me from being shot on a farm, but they did put me on a 10 tonne chain and it was wearing away my fur. I have photo's of that old chain, you can see it was on me for a long time, look at the wear and the build up of dirt. How do I know it was a 10 tonne chain?... take a look at the photo's. My spirit was down, not out ,but down, I was so unhappy.
I just knew that one day I would be out of there, just one day. No idea when, but one day. SUCCESS!!!
That day did come and it was all thanks to the next door neighbour Lesley, she breeds Saluki's, she understands, she saved me. Saved me from a life that was shackled to a house and down in the dirt. I thank her so much for getting me on the road to a better life. Lesley contacted Alaskan Malamute Rehoming Aid Australia (AMRAA) Thanks Lesley,
Then I met Brendan, He and Geogia put me in their car and I'm outta there, I am really on the road to a better life. YES! Never thought I would be happy to see a vet... anyway it was Mark he is a good vet and fixed me up with a few things, then off we go to Setala Lodge Boarding kennels. It's all go go go and I'm loving it.
Got to the kennels, out of the car, saw John, he took me in, Thanks Brendan, thanks Georgia, she's cool, she gave me treats. Brendan, Georgia and John took that chain off my neck.
In the kennels I go, met Cathy, had a drink, had some time in a small exercise yard with John, I was so happy to see that tree, ahhhhhh.... then in to check out my new pad, it was great, my own bed and it's not in the dirt. My own water bowl and the room service is awesome, I got to eat real dog food and fresh beef mince and check this out, no chain around my neck and some where I can hide from the thunderstorms, cool huh! This place is alright, I like these guys. It's been a big first day. This AMRAA crowd are great thanks Mirella, Thanks Setala Lodge.
