SMYE

The Spring Meeting of Young Economists is intended to give non-tenured young economists such as PhD students, post-docs, assistant professors, and equivalents a chance to meet, present and discuss their work.

The conference is organised "by young economists for young economists" and covers the whole spectrum of economic endeavour. All participants are given an opportunity to present their research and are encouraged to exchange ideas which are directly or indirectly related to their research and to the work of their fellow economists. Every year the SMYE invites a couple of senior researchers to address the SMYE participants. We are happy that so many excellent researchers, incl. Nobel Laureates, have participated in the SMYE!

The SMYE is an annually held conference which started out as a small gathering of economists at the University of Essen in 1996. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and received up to 800 applications in the last years. To maintain a relaxed atmosphere and prevent the anonymity large conferences might suffer from, the number of presenters will not exceed 200.

In 2012 the Meeting will be held at ZEW Mannheim, Germany (For further information see: www.smye2012.org)
