Owner and Founder/Instructor

Steven Nasshan grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago. He never really had much exposure to dance as a child but got his introduction by watching musicals with his family. He began his involvement with musicals at the age of 11 and continued in the joy of that form of music and dance throughout his middle school and high school years. After he graduated from high school, Steven studied English at Northeastern Illinois as well as finding a position at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Morton Grove at the age of 19. Ballroom dancing soon became his life. In addition to dance, he has a huge passion for music. He dabbled in the music industry with an audition for American Idol and eventually working with the record label Red Zone, creating some demos.

Steven, however, could not escape his calling to dance. In addition to working at Arthur Murray, he more recently worked at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Chicago. In 2009, with his professional partner, he became Fred Astaire National Smooth Champion, Michigan Dancesport Challenge Finalist, as well as receiving many teaching awards and accolades. He also had the honor of teaching at Chicago’s Summerdance at Grant Park in 2010. In his heart, Steven has desired to own his own company and move in the lives of people the way he envisioned it. Get On The Floor became that reality in 2011. He feels very passionately about owning a mobile dance studio so his clients can learn wherever they are most comfortable, in addition to working out of a studio location so they can be accessible to as many clients as possible. On his vision he states, “There is nothing like the energy that comes from a room full of people whose bodies are being moved by the power of the treble and the bass, and a true sense of celebrating each other and the moment.” His goal is to create that environment and share it with his clients. He would also like to eventually get involved with non for profit work, have his team involved in the community and continue to infuse peoples’ lives with music and dance. He says, “Get on the Floor is a great opportunity for me to continue growing and learning about myself using ballroom dance as the vehicle to challenge myself and my team.” Aside from his passions for music, dance and teaching, Steven adds, “My other true passion is freeze pops, but I hate waiting for the whole box to freeze.”
