Scott Nicholson

Scott Nicholson is a professor at Syracuse University's School of Information Studies. He is the director of the Because Play Matters game lab, where he designs transformative games and play for informal learning settings.
His current research focuses on meaningful gamification, which is the use of user-centered game design elements to help a player find meaning in a real-world setting. He has also done work on gaming in libraries and online education. He also is a published board game designer (Tulipmania 1637), an author (Everyone Plays at the Library), and a face painting (Pied Piper Painting).
