Long-time SoCal Mom whose kid is embarking on college life; working on my next self-reinvention.

I was born in Hollywood, in a hospital that is now the headquarters for Scientology. I believe that makes me an authentic native of LA - even if I have spent the last 51 years living in the San Fernando Valley.

In a past life, I worked in the entertainment industry and am sadly prone to dropping names and little tidbits about those days. Actually, I'm a lot like an old war veteran who can't stop reminiscing about when my life was more exciting and dangerous than it is now. Feel free to stop me if you've heard this one before.

I launched my first blog, SoCal Mom, back in 2003. This year, my sister and I initiated a new one, Two Drinks Away -- meant to be a conversation between the two of us, about adjusting to our lives now that our kids are all grown up. Neither is getting much attention at the moment, because we are both working full-time right now and I haven't yet figured out how to carve out a few hours a day for writing without letting my work and relationships suffer. Like me, it's a work in progress.

Other interests include Progressive Politics: I co-host the weekly MOMocrats MOMochat podcast.

In the past, I contributed to CBS Local Los Angeles, Ask Patty.com, WebMD and of course, the MOMocrats blog.
