Matheos Viktor Messakh

Waingapu, East Sumba, Indonesia

I was born in Rote, a small island at the southern tip of Timor. I was raised up by my grandparents until I was eight before moving to Kupang in Timor to live with my parents and my six brothers who already lived there. I graduated from Artha Wacana Christian University in Kupang (1998), Nottingham Trent University (2005) and now I’m a scholarship student for Cosmopoliss Program at Leiden University in the Netherlands. I worked for PIAR, a local NGO in Kupang (1998-2002), Sulat Timor, a local church magazine (2002-2003), East Timor’s Commission for Reception, Truth and Reconciliation (2005-2006) and The Jakarta Post (2006-2012). I am now running an online media, Satutimor.com from my home in Waingapu, East Sumba.

I survived for elementary schools, two junior high schools, and two senior high schools and have two kids, and a wife.
