Sofritogirl blog is based on my personal cooking experience and for educational purposes only, with focus on sharing my recipes in a humble matter, with a little:

It is down to earth with not only my personal experiences, but also, recorded real-life candid mistakes (because we are all humans and not perfect). My videos are straight to the point with my cynosure on the ingredients, food preparation and cooking method.

I am not a professional chef, have never taken any cooking classes, nor ever worked as an employee in the culinary industry.

Some of the recipes added to my blog are not cooked exactly to what are traditionally known or customary. I like to reinvent recipes and slightly alter its ingredients with the main focus to enhance its flavor. Hence, I add my twist to it, creating my own inspired signature dish.

I was born and raised in NYC, New York with multi-ethnic heritages of Puerto Rican-American Roman Catholic from my mother’s side, and Cuban-Polish Orthodox Jewish from my father’s side.

I am non-kosher, do eat pork, shellfish (lobster, crab, clams, shrimps), and consume dairy product with meat. I celebrate Christmas, not as a religious holiday, but as a festive time of year for home decoration, specialized Puerto Rican-Cuban meals and gift giving.

All I can say is, it’s my life and enjoy being creative cooking, adventurous to explore and experience trying new things, as long as it doesn’t cause me any culture-shock, especially when it comes to food. Cooking is my hobby, my art, my expression of love, my enjoyment.
