Maria Solis grew up in a family that always pushed her to become an independent woman. Education was always something that her family implemented heavily. With the support of her family and her personal experiences, Maria decided to become a teacher at the age of fourteen, realizing that education is the foundation to being successful at the social and personal level. Maria attended her community high school Benito Juarez Community Academy.She was named a Golden Apple Scholar the year of 2013, the same year she began her journey at Loyola University Chicago.
