Solomon Adetokunbo is an experienced development practitioner versatile in stakeholder’s engagement, design, and implementation of social protection programs that intersect with the needs of developing nations.

His varied career includes a stint as a project manager with the Lagos State Signage & Advertisement Agency, a development consultant to the Federal Government of Nigeria on the ’N-POWER’ programme. He has also developed concept notes that have been implemented in critical sectors of the African economy including education, food security and financial inclusion; in Ghana and Botswana. He has extensive experience collaborating with senior government officials, private sector leaders, civil society, and multilateral donors to effectively promote sustainable development.

In his current capacity as a Development Consultant for the Lagos State Government, and Programme Manager at Habeeb Okunola Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to alleviating the plight of marginalised poor and displaced people in Nigeria, he has provided technical assistance and led joint developmental intervention supported by local and international agencies, including United Nations Development Programme, World Health Organisation, National Emergency Management Agency, National Commission for Refugees Migrant and Internally Displaced Persons etc. He was instrumental in the successful implementation of the United Nation’s ‘One Basket Fund’ to support vulnerable communities affected by the socio-economic impact of COVID-19. Some of his other professional accomplishments include inauguration and management of ‘mama-pikin’ - (Mother's Child) a safety and reproductive health intervention initiative that distributed over 10,000 birth delivery kits to Internally Displaced Peoples (IDP) Camps and trained over 1,500 Traditional Birth Attendants and Community Health Extension Workers to complement the dearth of medical personnel in IDP camps and rural areas. He also led a team on ‘Owo Oja’ (Money for Trade); a Conditional Cash Transfer programme that has helped to build a platform for affordable, accessible and sustainable financial inclusion for previously poor and low-income people, and small-scale entrepreneurs living in rural and urban slum communities, with special attention to including women in the programme because they suffer disproportionately from poverty.
