Solomon Odeniyi

Solomon Odeniyi is a dynamic, erudite and highly spirited journalist with an undying passion for the profession.

His journey into journalism started at the prestigious Adekunle Ajasin University, where he bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication.

As a student journalist, he won many laurels, including the coveted National Union of Campus Journalists Outstanding Reporter of the year award.

Solomon started his professional career with the Nation Newspaper in 2017; and later proceeded to Osun Defender Newspaper, where he worked till December 2020.

His stellar performance and unparalleled dedication made him win the Best Reporter in the print category in Osun state. Thereafter he joined the most widely read newspaper in Nigeria, The Punch Newspaper, where is currently proving his mettle and churning out awesome stories.

Solomon has attended several highly exclusive seminars and conferences, which include: The Journalism and Development Seminar Initiative by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung; International Press Centre Workshop for Political Correspondents; The Journalism Clinic; Civic Media Lab; Media Career Workshop; Journalist for Christ Seminar; and Centre for Constitutional Governance Workshop among others.

He is usually chosen from a highly competitive pool with about a 2-5% selection rate because of the quality of his contribution to the Nigerian media industry and the strong recommendations he has from leading industry experts.

He is a fellow of the African Resilience Network, a program by the Institute of War and Peace Reporting, United Kingdom.

He intends that with his reportage, he will help in peace-building and improving society.
