Solveig Whittle
Seattle, WA
Solveig Whittle originally graduated from a hoity toity university with an engineering degree and became an assembly language programmer at AT&T. She then moved into the world of business and got her MBA at night school in Chicago (at another hoity toity university). A westward move to Seattle landed her a job as a software as a product manager at Microsoft.
After leaving the tech industry to have her third child, she decided to become certified as an elementary school teacher. While in a class about teaching art and drama, however, she realized that what really she really loved even more than teaching third graders was writing and performing music. (Plus, the truth was she had never actually stopped making music from the age of 6 on.)
Solveig is now the lead vocalist, lyricist, and business side of the pop/folk duo Solveig & Stevie, whose other member is studio musician and producer, Stevie Adamek. Stevie was originally signed by Scepter Records (See Band) and then Columbia Records (Bighorn). He also composed for and performed with the iconic Seattle band, The Allies, one of the first to have a music video on MTV (Emma Peel).
Not content with being a hobbyist musician, Solveig is combining her marketing and business expertise with her love of music to make a name for herself as a thought leader in the world of indie music marketing.
She regularly contributes articles on the music industry and music marketing to music marketing and industry websites, blogs and podcasts. She also guest lectures to music students at the Art Institute of Seattle. After discovering social media in 2010 and Twitter in 2012, she worked her way into becoming an instructor at the University of Washington in their Professional and Continuing Education certificate program for Social Media. Full bio can be found on her website.
