computer programmer and data scientist in Ankara
My background's in Latin Language and Literature, and right now I'm focusing on Python. Basically, I'm trying to mix my verbal background with some tech skills. I'm just starting out, but I'm messing around with natural language processing (NLP) and text mining stuff. Turning historical texts into something computers can get, and picking up open source vibes—that's what I'm mainly doing these days.
While picking up Latin, I got curious about 'how can I analyze these texts with a computer?' So, it's this learning project where I'm testing out Python libraries on the De Bello Gallico text. The idea is to go beyond just reading them manually and turn them into data with machine learning and semantic analysis tricks. I'm also trying to wrap my head around Linked Open Data (LOD) through this.
I kicked this off to get into GitHub culture and open source teamwork. It's basically a simple dictionary setup that's open for contributions. I'm figuring out stuff like 'How does a software project grow with a community, and how do people add to the code?'—not just reading about it, but jumping in hands-on.
