Somto Udom
Consultant and Writer in Lagos, Nigeria
Hello! My name is Somto, a Business Advisory Consultant with Kaizer&Cicero in Lagos, Nigeria. My core interests span entrepreneurship, innovation, research, brand, communications, business writing as well as strategy, leadership and sustainability. I coordinated the sustainability and social responsibility initiatives for Deloitte for over 5 years, supporting small business and non-governmental organizations in humanitarian and social development initiatives. I also have interests in politics and digital technology. You can read some of my articles with a click on the button above.
I have over 7 years’ professional services experience in the area of Business Development and Research Analysis, with proven skills in brand communication, industry strategy, business research, finance and client relationship management. This is in line with my experience working with Deloitte & Touche as Business Development Research Analyst and my tenure as a Finance Officer.
I possess a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Valley View University, Ghana. I also have a Diploma in Civil Engineering from University of Lagos, Nigeria. This is in addition to my certifications from the Harvard Manager Mentor and Harvard Business Publishing Courses on Time Management, Business Writing, Decision making and Presentation.
Furthermore, I possess certifications on Entrepreneurship from the United Kingdoms’ Doug Richards school for Start-ups and the Lagos Business Schools’ Enterprise Development Center.
In line with these certifications and trainings, I offer valuable experience in the development of business plans and financial models. In 2012, I was awarded a grant by the Federal Government of Nigeria for the development of a high level business and financial proposal, under the World Bank sponsored 'YouWin' initiative. This is in addition to other initiatives and projects I have undertaken in support of technology start-ups and disruptors in Nigeria.
I was part of the team tasked with the development of content for the internal magazine (InsiDeloitte) and also served as Lead Press Contact responsible for managing Deloitte's relationship with Nigerian media houses and Newspapers. This has, in turn, broadened my network with the media and fostered a strong relationship with the Nigeria press.
I currently contribute through a column on 'The Spark Magazine’; an insert in BusinessDay Newspaper and I also develop business articles published by Business A.M News, Nigeria.
