Sonia Khurana

Sonia Khurana is a multimedia content creator, with experience in video production, photography, and social media. Born and raised in Abbotsford, BC, she took the decision to move to Toronto, home to Canada’s major broadcast networks and media outlets.

She developed her passion for the media arts early in highschool through her involvement in the schools broadcasting program. Being able to tell stories to the world excites her and drives her passion for media. With Sonia’s skill and determination, she was able to compete at the Skills Canada Competition for video production and bring home the National Gold in 2019. Meanwhile, she contributed her video production and interviewing skills at her Social Media News Reporter position at Black Press Media. Through her job, she was able to gain industry experience in planning and pitching stories, on-site interviews, and developing multi-modal stories to engage the local community. Sonia is skilled in meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple projects at once. She also works as a freelancer creating corporate, event highlight and wedding videos for clients.

Sonia is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Media Production at Ryerson University and spends her extra time volunteering and freelancing. She is currently taking a variety of courses such as business of media, social media, and multi camera to explore her interests in digital media management and film/television production.
