Sonia Tigero

Cooking is my life! I am a professional chef specialized in Ayurveda cuisine and lifestyle, and my name is Sonia Tigero. I started my career very young, working my way up to managing a restaurant. After five encouraging years, I decided to expand the range of my culinary skills. I graduated with honors from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Miami, and became a private chef. I also found that I loved teaching about cooking as much as cooking itself. Teaching and enriching my own culinary expertise led me to consider encompassing all aspects in the art of food preparation: from delighting the palate to learning recipes for diverse traditional dishes and from intentional nutrition to cleansing the body for spiritual practice. It was during this quest that intentional spiritual awareness changed me. I had become 150 pounds overweight and needed to learn more about how to treat my body as a Temple. The wisdom of the Ayurveda teachings inspired me profoundly, and after great progress my teacher found me a special name “Annapurna”. It is Sanskirt for “one who cooks like a goddess with special energy and loving care.” The vital guidance of Ayurveda nourished my soul while balancing my body, and now my love of teaching it has combined my full range of culinary skills and my love of balanced wellness into a fruitful enterprise!
