Sonia Amir-Bowie
Sonia is Colombian and Pakistani and uses her multicultural background, her ability to speak two languages, and cultural experiences to reach the many youth of our communities. Sonia helps teens prepare for the future by offering after school Spanish language classes to elementary school age children in Maryland communities. She also continues her work as a Motivational Speaker for youth in the D.C., metropolitan area.
In the year 2000, Sonia was awarded the title of Miss Maryland where she represented the State of Maryland at the nationally- televised Miss America Pageant. This opportunity has opened many doors for her professionally allowing her to travel throughout the state and country working with politicians and community based organizations to promote the implementation of Character Building Programs for youth. Participating in the Miss America Pageant also gave her the opportunity to sign with NYC, Baltimore, Philadelphia and D.C., modeling and talent based agencies where she continues to work as a commercial print model.
