Sonia Preisser
My name is Sonia Preisser and I am 28 years old. Although I am originally from Mexico City, Mexico, I truly identify myself as a global citizen. I grew up with the Japanese culture as I attended a Japanese school in Mexico, and have been fortunate enough to live in a number of countries from Australia to Germany since the age of 15. I am fluent in Spanish, German and English, with knowledge in Japanese and French, along a very basic Swahili and Maasai. I hold a BA in International Relations from Richmond, the American International University in London, and a MA in Development Studies from the University of Sydney.
I have had the opportunity of working with a number of organisations including Greenpeace Australia Pacific where I interned with the GE Campaign, and Peace Revolution where I was awarded a fellowship in Thailand.
My more recent work includes a number of youth-led organizations including, but not limited to, the Oaktree Foundation, a youth-led development agency, and Left Right Think Tank, a youth run think-tank in Australia; One Heart Source’s grassroots work in Tanzania towards educating people about HIV/AIDS, and implementing local projects; and CliMates a student think and do tank that works towards finding solutions to Climate Change. Currently, I am part of the advisory board at the Gender Progress Consortium and Foundation, and I’m the Co-Founder & Director of MomoEffect Ltd., a Social Enterprise that focuses on youth empowerment around the world.
