Hi, I’m Sonia. I moved to Australia from Spain, on a rainy day in March, 4 years ago. Once I settled in Melbourne, I proceeded to work in a fast-paced environment in the translations and multicultural communications field. Passionate about effective communication, accessibility, and always seeking to achieve client delight, the move to multicultural Australia was the perfect fit. With encouragement from friends and family, I then became the founder of Sylaba Translations. Me and Sylaba's team of translators are focused on quality translations and ensuring that communication materials are fit for their intended purpose.

My approach to translation reflects my 7 years of education in translation and interpreting studies and 4 years of experience working with Australian clients. My inquisitive nature and love of culture and languages, has led me to become a plain language judge in the Clear Mark Awards celebrated in the U.S.A. I am also an experienced Easy English editor.

I am a veteran of scoping, planning and executing multilingual translation projects to help organisations build relationships with their audience. I am a passionate trainer, known for helping, educating and supporting clients as they develop inclusive communications techniques.

In my free time, I love to read and practice yoga. I enjoy cooking and if you try to find me on a Saturday night, I will most likely be enjoying a good meal with my friends and family.
