SONNY CRUZ

ACTOR

Sonny Cruz has had a passion for the arts, as well as performing for audiences since an adolescent. After writing and appearing in several skits for drama class, Sonny was hooked and went on to be cast as Michael Cassio in Shakespeare’s Othello his senior year. Upon graduation with no theatre outlet, but a lust to draw a crowd; he turned to another passion, hip hop and poetry going on to perform on stages from Michigan to Texas.

During his hiatus from his first love, Sonny took up cimematography to learn movement and angles. With new knowledge of the camera and a background in performing arts, directing videos was next on the agenda. After successfully directing and appearing in numerous videos, Sonny was invited to film and star in the anti-bullying play Meatballs and Spaghetti at Coolidge Elementary in Detroit. The fulfillment of acting again was such a rush, that he had to return to his first love to feel complete.

Since his return to acting, Sonny has been going full throttle not limiting himself to just theatre. This includes staring and co-staring in two upcoming full length feature films, as well as numerous shorts and student films. He’s also landed reoccurring roles in the digital series Wicked City Girls, and the new hit Life Goes On. Not leaving his roots in theatre behind, Sonny has also appeared in a host of inspirational urban stage plays; and has traveled with the award winning stage play The Meeting by Jeff Steson. He also continues to farther his education in acting, writing, improv, photography, and modeling.
