Hi, I have completed my medical school from Stanley Medical College, India following which I did my masters in virology from the National Institute of Virology, India. I am currently pursuing my PhD at the University of Saskatchewan under the guidance of Dr. Vikram Misra.

Over the past few years, several new emerging infections have been traced back to bats e.g. Ebola, Nipah and many more. Bats harbor different viruses which are benign to bats themselves. But when such viruses infect other species, like humans, it has been seen to produce deadly disease. I want to know the dynamics behind such spillover of bat viruses. During my PhD, I am studying 2 such viruses, a bat Coronavirus and a bat Herpesvirus. I am characterizing these viruses in bats, in order to gain insight into its behavior in its natural host.

Due to my clinical background, I am aware of pathogenesis, clinical presentation, management and prevention of infectious diseases. In addition to that, I also have lab skills required to pursue research in molecular biology (especially in the field of Virology). My goal is to do transitional research in the field of emerging infectious diseases.
