I started working on my own label called ‘OPUUS’ - literally meaning "selective compositions", since December 2001, and since then have been going strong.
Hosting private exhibitions to showcase my collections got me tremendous response and a growing client el base.
Moving on from basic western clothing ranging from tops to tunics to dresses, I now specialize in saree's , lehenga's, Bridal ware and Trousseau's for women, and for men I design club shirts, formal suits and Indian chudidaar kurtas and sherwani’s.
I enjoy creating customized clothing for Brides and Grooms here at my studio based in Bangalore.
My garments are a blend contemporary with a hint of tradition, using different embellishment and blend of different fabrics making the fabric like a painting canvas. each of my garment has a different story to tell.
I like designing garments which have a sense of naughtiness to them, but not at the compromise of the wearers personality.
moving on years... and thanks to my long list of clients who like & trust my work give the push to start a new venture.
Recently opened my flagship store, here in Bangalore called 'BELLE CCCOUTURE' at one of the famous residential areas in Bangalore, showcasing my label - 'SOORAJ CHWLA' and also fresh designers form all over India,displaying along with ready to wear garments a line of semi precious jewelery, home decorative s and also international fabrics. The idea behind this was to create a platform from where clients could get access my creations and also a place where new designers could get encouragement to sell their label.
