Sophia Shishatskaya
Krasnoyarsk, Russia
Background
A passionate linguist with a university degree in translation, I have always loved languages.
After graduation with honours in 2002, I started to work as a translator, and I have never stopped translating — for more than 10 years now.
Specialization
My specialized subject areas are tourism, cosmetics, cookery, and marketing.
Due to my part-time work in the Institute of Biophysics SB RAS (2005 - present) I also have experience in such fields as biology, biophysics, hydrobiology, and biopolymers.
A keen reader, I try my prentice hand at literary translation, and I regularly participate in seminars for translators of literature.
Who do I work with?
Most of my clients are translation and marketing agencies who like to work with me because I always deliver top-quality translations on time.
I also provide pro-bono translations for Translators without Borders and Future Actually (English-Russian).
What else?
I live in Krasnoyarsk, a large city in Siberia, Russia. The background picture is actually the view from the roof of my block of flats. I love my city, but I also like to travel, to taste different food, to learn foreign languages and to danse tango (I'm still a beginner :))
