Sophia Eick

Active with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Sophia Eick is attending the University of Delaware’s College of Health Sciences and working toward a BS in nursing. A peer-elected representative of the School of Nursing Curriculum Committee, Sophia Eick coordinates with the school’s nursing directors. She is also a member of the Student Nursing Organization’s Nurse Ambassador Program, through which she focuses on pathways for broadening student opportunities while promoting health care on campus.
Ms. Eick has gained extensive professional experience as an undergraduate. She was able to shadow the Pediatric Emergency Care and Trauma team at Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for a semester in 2019. She has also volunteered with the Nurse Primary Care Center in Newark, where she took patients’ vital signs in an outpatient setting and performed hearing and vision examinations. In addition, she has actively screened patients for mental and behavioral conditions such as depression, anxiety, and alcoholism.
Ms. Eick has also volunteered in an international setting with the nonprofit Missions for Life in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The service-learning trip focused on providing families without access to medical care with no-cost health services. Sophia Eick’s community involvement has extended to working with elders who have chronic illness, assisting with their activities of daily living.
